300 Winchester Short Mag
My new Remington 700 XCR 300 WIN MAG wont extract spent Ammo after the second or third shot. Any suggestions?
I used Winchester 180 grain factory and Remington 150 grain factory Ammo with the same results, shoot two rounds cases extract fine the third the bolt rotates but will not pull back without using a hammer or piece of wood. The ammo loads fine just wont extract. I thought it might just need to be shot several times but after 2 boxes with the same results I don't think so. I can clean it and let it sit overnight and the next day I can shoot two but after that it takes hammeing to remove the spent case. I have emailed Remington but haven't received a reply. Any suggestions short of sending it back? I am going on my first Alaska hunt in less than 60 days and would like to have this fixed before I go.

You gave a clue when you said you can clean it then they will extract. Something is not right, either with the ammo or the rifle. Since it is new, I would send it back to the factory or to a local warranty shop for repair. Any mods you do will void the warranty.
