7.62×39 Hunting Ammo
gun trading/ buying questions.?
well im selling my dad my winchester 30-30 for 200$ then i found a all matching norinco sks at the gun store for 200$ it comes with a usa brand 30 round magazine 2 dust cover mounts (i know wondering zero) and a folding stock to boot. i know im getting a deal here but just how good of one?. then im going to trade my remington 870 mag for as much 7.62x39 as i can. then i have my christmas list. it includes tapco 20 round magazines 30.06 ammo wold 12 gauge buck shot. winchester 7 1/2 shot and .22 ammo. you see i know ammo and guns are ganna sky rocket in price so im going to stock up now and try to get enough ammo to last me for the rest of my life (im 14). so that when im old and my grandkids want to go hunting but rifles cost 1000s of dollars and a box of shells cost hundreds ill be set to take them. do you think i got the right idea?
If you sell that Winchester .30-.30 for 200 bucks, you are probably taking a beating on it. If it is in just fair conditions and has little bluing and some rust, mars and the stock is rough, then it is still a little low. If it is in very nice, close to new shape, you probably could get 4-6 hundred.depending mostly on condition, age, features.
The SKS sounds about right but I haven't priced them recently. Stocking up is ok but I wouldn't buy a truckload of anything. I would possibly buy a re-loader but I would also keep the .30-.30 and use the re-loader in that caliber. Then save up and buy another gun or components to re-load with.
Being prepared for tough times is just as important but I think if anyone tried to be prepared for ALL circumstances, you wouldn't have time or money to do it. Just don't get in such a hurry that you financially hurt yourself on the gun sale to get a lesser gun.

I wanted hunting and plinking ammunition, so I tested five different bullets - three 123 grain and two 150 grain. But before I reloaded anything, I wanted to check out how commercially made ammunition shot. If I ever run out of handloads, I'll know what to buy. I tested Federal, PMC and Winche... |
