Construction techniques for strong, sturdy joints while making homemade shipping crates?
I want to take some various pieces of plywood and siding I have salvaged to make some very sturdy boxes to move. I have heavy items, books, ammo, tools and such. We do have a little wood working experience and need to know what kind of joints? I am sure we will be using them for storage at our new place.
plain lap joints are fine, a typical shipping box has the framing on the outside, this allows you to seal the box using the framing instead of the plywood, provides a smooth interior, and allows the framing to take the abuse rather than the plywood.
