Best Climbing Tree Stand
climbing stand vs a non climbing stand?
hey guys i was just wondering what would be the best to get a climbing stand or a non climbing stand. also which one would be faster to get up the tree and more quite because im putting it up this weekend when i go hunt
Both have advantages and disadvantages. First the climber. You have to watch the size of the tree carefully, too big or too small. Then, if their are branches in the way of your ideal climb height. If the bottom falls which doesn't happen often, but it does, it's quite a trick to get back down. Advantages, you can move the stand according to deer movement or wind changes or to an entirely different place if needed.
The ladder stand can be put on a variety of trees, I prefer larger trees because they tend to be a bit sturdier in the wind and I don't like the swaying. They are easier to get in and out of. They do take a bit longer to set up and not as easy to move.
As far as getting a new one, there will be scent from the materials used making it. Make sure you use a cover scent to cover that 'new' smell, believe me, deers CAN smell it.
Hope this helps
