Hornet 22 Rifle
Any double barreled rifles in .22 Hornet or .357 Magnum?
I'm looking where i could find a double barreled rifle. I'm hoping to find one in .22 Hornet or .357 Magnum but any other sources would appreciated.
I have never seen one, but about as close as you are going to get would POSSIBLY be the old Valmet 412 and 512 models. I believe they are presently sold under the name of Finnclassic 512 double guns.
The popularity of double guns is mostly for dangerous game hunters in Africa. If the firing pin breaks on a bolt-gun when an elephant is charging, then you are SOL. But, if a firing pin on a double rifle fails, then you still have the other barrel. Add to this the fact that you don't have to "cycle the bolt", and this gives a dangerous game hunter a very fast second shot.
Dangerous game guns are going to be manufactured in dangerous game calibers; 375 H&H Mag, 416 Rigby, 458 Win Mag, 458 Lott, and so on. The 22 Hornet and 357 Rem Mag just don't fit into that category of large calibers.
