Louisiana Duck Hunting
I have a silver jon boat and want to use it for duck hunting but don't want to paint it?
Is there any other way to camouflage my Jon boat for duck hunting? I don't want anything permanent. I just want something pretty cheap that can cover my flat boat while hunting in the marsh of louisiana
You can get some army camo netting from an army surplus store. This works well. You may even do as I did. I got some metal hoops that was once used in hoop nets for fishing. I drilled a hole in the top of my boat gunnel , 4 to each side. I then put one end of each hoop in the hole and tied the netting to it, with openings to stand up and shoot out of.
The best way to explain it is to think of an old covered wagon and you will have an idea what it looked like. It was like a portable duck blind that allowed me to duck hunt any place I wished. I could throw out 2 dozen decoys and be in business in less then 10 minutes.
When I was running the bayous I would pull out the hoops and stack them in the bottom of my boat. It only took a few minutes to put them back in place.
This will work great and not cost very much either.
