Scope Magnification Setting for Hunting?
Which magnification setting (3x-9x) do you guys think provides the best combination of magnification and quick target aquisition?
9x is obviously the most accurate in theory, and fine for sighting-in from a benchrest...but most of us find it extremely difficult to quickly aquire a target when shouldering a rifle at this magnification.
Keep your scope on the LOWER magnification-easier to gain target acquisition when hunting. Even if using a higher priced wide field.
Another hint-get use to looking OVER your scope-When you see the target just drop your eyes down to your scope. Especially useful when hunting in timber. And when the need is there for higher magnification with your variable.
