South Texas Hunting Leases
Deer hunting in Dallas / Forth Worth?
I'm always looking in on a new deer lease for one hour south of Forth Worth (Cleburne area). I have hunted several years in the hill country, but I'm not familiar with this part of Texas. Can someone tell me what kind of deer I can in this neck of the woods expect? Thanks.
Cleburne around you will not find as many deer as you would around San Saba and Brady. Only in the west and south of the city there are some decent size Hirsch. The State Park has some deer on it and they come and go, the surrounding areas. I have some distant relatives who hunt right behind the park and take a few decent Size deer per year. I've seen some nice money by feeding the hospital sector. The biggest problem with hunting in Johnson County is the development of rural areas. 20 years ago, there were quail and venison from the Cleburne area Goatneck to the Brazos River. Comes with all the "Ranchette" communities in a lot of nature of the moves. Also you can find some wild pigs in some areas of Johnson County. It is a buck circuit and a function of the next meeting some new restrictions doe have. Check the TPWD Web site for further details.
