Tracking A Deer
what are these deer doing?
I have a way back into my house. There are deer tracks that run across it. On both sides of the road is the same type of Woods (oak, maple and a few pines), but the one side the land is very wet and muddy about 75 yards the deer trails coming out of the swamp. there are more deer Tracks that go across the road from the swampy side and on the dry side. I want to know how I can bag a deer. There is also a big buck that uses the path but not regularly. which side do you think they are feeding and bedding on which side? and when should I hunt down the trail?
The deer are likely Beds in the marshes and feeding in the woods. Depending on the mast (height of acorns) the deer will focus on the feed. The deer prefer white oak acorns the rest I would try to observe from a distance, to see when the deer come from either the bottom or, if they back in. I'd try some Paths come to see what they actually eat follow. Hopefully they are during the filming of hours feeding. I would try to hunt the feeding areas in the afternoon when she left and closer to the bottom in the morning when they returned, but not too far to get to the bottom for fear of spooking them out.
